Spotify UI Analysis

During my Interaction Design course, I gained knowledge about how interactive interfaces provide certain affordances through interactive elements. These visual features can also influence user behaviors. As part of a project, I made modifications to three features on Spotify, a music streaming platform.

The list of playlists on the right (After)

Spotify offers users the ability to save playlists created by friends, playlists generated by Spotify itself, as well as the user's own playlists. However, with the number of playlists exceeding 40, it can become overwhelming to choose from them. To alleviate this, I have enabled users to categorize their playlists based on personal preferences and needs.

The number of created playlists (After)

It initially had a feature that allowed users to create an unlimited number of playlists. However, I realized that this could lead to an excessive number of playlists being created, which might not be ideal. To encourage users to create high-quality playlists, we decided to limit the number of playlists that can be created to 50. This way, users are motivated to curate each playlist more carefully.

Instead of opening the queue button to view queued songs, the users are now encouraged to directly change the queue order and add new songs.
